PRODUCTION 34 Start a project

The studio

Fourteen years
in one room.

Production 34 started in 2012 with one camera, two clients and an edit bay borrowed from a friend’s post house in Greenpoint.

Today it is thirty-four people who still work in the same building — which is the whole point.

Our story

We kept the
small-crew habit.

Most production companies grow by adding producers and renting the rest. We grew the other way: the people who pitch the idea are the people on set, and the person who colour-grades the film sat in the van on the way home.

It means we take fewer jobs per quarter. It also means the film that gets delivered is the one that was pitched, not a compromise negotiated across four vendors.

How we work

Four rules we do not break

Written into every contract
01

One number, before we shoot

You get a fixed price with the treatment. Change the brief later and we re-quote in writing — never an invoice surprise at delivery.

02

The director stays to the grade

Whoever directs the shoot sits in the colour suite. Continuity of taste is not something you can hand over in a document.

03

We own the gear we rely on

Camera bodies, lenses, lights and the stage. If it is rented, we say so in the schedule instead of discovering it on the day.

04

Every deliverable, in writing

Ratios, runtimes, captions, loudness specs. Agreed before the edit starts, so the export day is boring.
